During the first semester we had no practices, only a weekly lecture.
At the end of the semester everyone got a 4 (we didn't have an exam and there was no attendance sheet at the lecture either). No idea why, and the department later changed it to 5 (after complaints).
The second semester also had the weekly lecture, but in addition to that we had the Ob/Gyn week.
The Ob/Gyn week was as follows:
At the begining of the semester we signed up (on the Neptun system) for groups of eight students.
I had my Ob/Gyn week in March.
All the other students had regular school week, but those that had Ob/Gyn week are excused (I told my other professors that I had Ob/Gyn and that it was the reason for my absence, and they said it was ok).
The week was really busy, but very good! I loved it.
We started at 08.00 and ended the day at 16.30, Monday-Friday.
We also had to do two night-shifts (yeah, that means start 08.00 on day 1 and end that shift 16.30 on day 2).
From the group of eight, we were split into two groups of four for the night-shifts (one group of 4 did the night-shifts on Mon and Wed, and the other group on Tue and Thu).
I was together with Benedicte, Lise and Sofie. You can see some pictures I took during the week at the bottom of the page.
Our schedule for the week:
Monday
08.00 - Introduction
09.00 - Prenatal care
10.00 - Prenatal wards
11.00 - Delivery room
13.00 - lunch
14-00 - Ultrasound
15.00 - Genetic counselling
A slight change in schedule was made for the prenatal care, but that was no big deal.
Unfortunately, there are no classrooms, so some of the teaching is being done in noisy hallways.
The first day was great and we had our first night-shift from Monday to Tuesday. We were pretty tired on Tuesday morning...I slept for less than three hours on a hard bed without linens. They should have provided us with linens.
During the night-shift I assisted on a C-section and we saw three births. It was really cool to assist and the doctors were friendly (although you have to ask and wait in the doctors' lounge, they won't run around looking for you when something happens!!)

11.00 - Adolescent gynecology

We started having our small lectures in the library and that was great.

Friday
08.00 - The weekly lecture (this was cancelled due to a day off - so it was only the eight of us that had school that day)
10.00 - Obstetrics anesthesia
11.00 - Preparing for labor (physical exercise and breathing techniques)
12.00 - Closing meeting
For the closing meeting we had been to the English secretariat to get a special stamp in our index books, which the department head was suppose to sign.
The Ob/Gyn week was really, really good!
