My fourth year 2006/07 - Otorhinolaryngology (Ear-Nose-Throat)

Most of the other students in my group were Erasmus students and they said this was the worst class they had at Semmelweis that semester. I have to agree.

For the first five weeks, some teachers did not show up for class and students stopped coming.
After the fifth week, all the students were gathered in the lecture hall and the department decided to clean up the mess. Some even insinuated that teachers didn't show up because the students didn't! The chicken and the egg dilemma.

We saw a few patients, but the main problem was the number of the students in each group. I had 12 students at a given time in my group - far too many for a small patient room.

Otorhinolaryngology was covered during one semester.
The other semester we had Dermatology (I had dermatology in the 2nd semester of the 4th year).
Dermatology and otorhinolaryngology cannot be compared. They are both worth the same number of credits, but the workload is at least five times larger in Dermatology.

This subject could be so good, but it turned out not to be when I had it.
Also, it is a known fact that everyone gets a 5 on the oral exam (which was given two weeks before the exam period). The test was a joke.
My two topics on the exam were: 1) Drainage of sinusitis and 2) pathology of the facial nerve.
