Life in Hungary

I moved to Hungary in 2003 and I had never before been here.

Some of the things I had heard about Hungary and Hungarians before I came to Budapest:

  • Hungarians are highly educated
  • Hungarians living in Budapest all speak English or German
  • Hungary has a plethora of Nobel laureates
  • Hungarians are a very proud people
  • Hungarian cuisine is really fatty
  • Hungarians are open and friendly
  • Hungarian educational institutions are renowned all over the world
  • Of all post-communist countries Hungary is the most proactive and modernized
