My third year 2005/06

I was told that if you pass the second year, the hardest part would be over.
It is true that the third year is much easier to pass, but it is easy to underestimate the workload. Microbiology, Pathology and Pathophysiology all have a large curriculum, and there are almost as many subjects in the third year as in the first year.

The biggest difference between the third year and the previous years is the overlap of curriculum between the various subjects. Pathology, Internal Medicine, Microbiology and Pathophysiology all focus on diseases - the etiology, symptoms, and treatment.

Pharmacology is introduced in the second semester of the third year and that semester covers antibiotics, which is essential to know for the internal medicine practice during the Summer (between the third and fourth year). I would say more than 80% of the patients I encountered during my practice over the Summer were on antibiotics, so understanding what they were and how they worked made my summer practice much more enjoyable.

The three core classes are all great! (Microbiology, Pathophysiology and Pathology)

Microbiology

Pathophysiology

Pathology

Ethics, Sociology

Psychology
