My practice teacher was Prof Matolcsy.
All three subjects of the third year are very, very important.
Of all the subjects at Semmelweis University, I feel that pathology has been one the cornerstone of all clinical subjects! You learn about diseases and the reason for and consequence of them.
It is a really fun class, although you have to work.
Students tend to underestimate the amount of work required during the third year, but there is a keyword that makes it seem like less material to memorize: FUN!
Pathology is a lot of fun.
My teacher - Prof Matolcsy - made coming to class fun. He systematically covered each case from a clinical point of view.
Whenever we discuss things in internal medicine (in the 4th and 5th year)
I always think back on the time I spent in pathology.
There are two departments for Pathology and there are hundreds of rumors going around as to which is better, harder and has a bigger curriculum.
Don't listen to any of it!
I hear bullshit like "this department makes you study and the other department doesn't require anything" or "this department is more clinically oriented and the other department is just theory".
Both departments changed department head in 2007, so whatever your friend from the sixth year is telling you - its wrong.
They can change the curriculum around as much as they want, but when the shit hits the fan: you have to learn diseases!
Just because they change the wording, you still have to know every disease in the book.
